Management Team

Deven Billimoria (Chief Executive Officer)

• After undertaking various roles within the company, Deven was appointed as CEO in 2002. He supports the SmartSalary team in further developing its business capabilities and servicing existing clients. Deven's started his career as an engineering consultant, before turning to management consulting with Deloitte & Touche and then Booz Allen Hamilton.
• Deven has an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School and a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from UCLA.
• Deven is keen traveller, with a preference towards backpacking through less developed pockets of the world.  He is also a closet economist and hopeful runner.  He has a weakness for red wine and macadamia nuts!

Dave Adler (Chief Marketing Officer)

• Dave oversees the company’s marketing, business development, product development and client relationship teams. As part of the executive team, Dave works across the organisation to further develop corporate capabilities and performance, as well as looking after vendor selection, development and management. Prior to joining the company Dave led a coffee distribution company during the start-up phase of the business. Dave joined SmartSalary in 2002 and has seen the company grow from 20 staff & 5,000 customers to over 180 staff and 80,000 customers.
• Dave holds a Bachelor of Business Management from CESA in Bogotá, Colombia, a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Western Sydney and has successfully completed the Harvard Business School Program for Leadership Development.
• Dave and his wife Lee are world travelers, having spent time in regions across South & North America, Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and Oceania. As a South American (proudly Colombian), Dave is obsessed with football (soccer), both as a player and a fan.

Athol Chiert (Chief Finance Officer)

• Athol oversees the company’s financial and operational teams and is responsible for SmartSalary’s acquisition strategy and implementation.  Athol has a life insurance and private equity background focusing on the small to mid cap market sector.  Prior to joining SmartSalary Athol was the Chief Financial Officer of PrefSure Holdings.  In this role Athol was integrally involved in the acquisition of Lumley Life in 2003, the integration thereof with PrefSure and the sale of the merged PrefSure entity to Tower Australia in 2006.  Athol’s experience also includes investment banking, mergers and acquisitions and due diligence. 
• Athol holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Accounting (post graduate) from the University of Witwatersrand in South Africa and is a member of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants.
• Athol is a sports fanatic with his South African background, being a keen rugby union supporter as well as cricket and soccer.  Athol and his wife Kerry-Leigh are keen travellers having spent time in regions across North America, Europe and the Middle East.

Phill Edwards (Chief Information Officer)

• Phill is responsible for SmartSalary's information technology & telecommunications infrastructure. Phill has more than 20 years experience in information technology and has held management positions in companies such as Dimension Data, Hutchison Telecoms and Ozemail. As the General Manager of Product Delivery for “3” in the early ‘90s he delivered the first range of 3G mobile products in Australia. He was Chief Technology Officer at OzEmail Internet in the late ‘90s when the company was Australia’s leading ISP; prior to joining SmartSalary, Phill was responsible for project delivery at Dimension Data, one of the worlds’s leading providers of IT services and solutions.
• Phill has a Bachelor of Science with Honours from Leeds University (UK) with a BSc. Hons. in Agricultural Science.
• He is a keen tennis player and cyclist. He believes that environmental issues are important and that IT has an important role to play in helping address current climate concerns.
