Getting ready for the end of FBT year - 31 March 2022

The end of the FBT (Fringe Benefits Tax) year is quickly approaching and depending on the benefits you’re packaging and those you’re eligible to package, you may have already heard from us about what you need to do to make the most of your tax savings this FBT year.

 

Please Note: When using your salary packaging card, some vendors and financial institutions may take a few days to process transactions so we recommend you don’t wait until the last minute to spend your balance, but allow time for all pending transactions to be processed by 31 March.

  3. Smartphone App: You can obtain your card balance from the EML Benefits mobile app

No salary packaging card deductions during final pay cycle of the Year

So that you have enough time to spend the funds on your salary packaging card, no deductions/payments are made for the card during the final pay cycle of the FBT year.
 
This means that that the full Tax-Free Cap/Meal Entertainment cap (where applicable) has been paid to your card over 25 pay cycles rather than 26 (or 26 pay cycles if you had 27 pay cycles this FBT Year).
 

End of Takeaway Packaging

From the start of the new FBT Year (1 April 2022) you will no longer be able to claim takeaway/delivery as Meal Entertainment.

For those that submit manual Meal Entertainment claims, takeaway/delivery purchases made during FBT Year 21-22 cannot be claimed/backdated during FBT Year 22-23. This means that purchases made prior to the end of this FBT Year cannot be submitted after 31 March 2022.

To log into your account, use the email registered with Smartsalary. If you are unsure of your registered email address, check your inbox as it will be the address where we have sent communications to you.

  1. Enter the code received from 'Microsoft' (generally received in under a minute)
  2. If you didn't recieve the mobile code, select this option to have the code sent again
  3. To obtain a code by email, select "Sign in another way"

Submitting a Claim Online

The quickest way to claim is by selecting 'E-claims' from the top menu, here you can also track and view previously submitted claims.

Once you have selected the benefit you are claiming, just:
 
  1. Choose the type of expense from a list of descriptions
  2. Enter in the details from your receipt ie; the date and amount
  3. Review, edit and add any additional receipts 
  4. Upload your receipts
When uploading your receipts, please remember that you can upload up to 10 megabytes (MB) and the following formats are accepted: PDF, JPEG/JPG, BMP, TIF/TIFF, PNG or GIF.
