There is an annual cap to the amount you can salary package each Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) year (1 April to 31 March). This cap varies dependent on the industry you work in.
If you work for a public or private not-for-profit hospital, the annual salary packaging tax-free limit is $9,010.
If you work for a charity or Public Benevolent Institution (PBI) you can salary package up to $15,900.
If you work for a rebatable employer, you can salary package up to $15,900, and you will have to pay some FBT.
You can salary package your mortgage, rent, or personal loan repayments up to the capped limits.
